2.5.1.52 |
Description |
L-mimosine synthase |
Catalyzed reaction |
O3-acetyl-L-serine + 3,4-dihydroxypyridine = 3-(3,4-dihydroxypyridin- 1-yl)-L-alanine + acetate. |
Cofactor |
Pyridoxal-phosphate. |
Comments |
-!- Brings about the biosynthesis of L-mimosine in mimosa and Leucaena sp. -!- Not identical with EC 2.5.1.51. Formerly EC 4.2.99.15. |
|
The only functionally validated sequence (from Leucaena leucocephala) is in fact a cysteine synthase possessing also a secondary activity as mimosine synthase. The protein has been included in family 2.5.1.47. |
