Description Glycine--oxaloacetate aminotransferase
Alternative names Glycine--oxaloacetate aminotransferase;
Aspartate--glyoxylate aminotransferase.
Catalyzed reaction Glycine + oxaloacetate = glyoxylate + L-aspartate.
Cofactor Pyridoxal-phosphate.
Although the reaction between glyoxylate and L-aspartate is reversible, the equilibrium constant strongly favors glycine formation.
L-serine can replace L-aspartate as a substrate.
