Description Cysteine-conjugate transaminase.
Catalyzed reaction S-(4-bromophenyl)-L-cysteine + 2-oxoglutarate = S-(4-bromophenyl)- mercaptopyruvate + L-glutamate.
Cofactor Pyridoxal-phosphate.
Comments -!- A number of cysteine conjugates can also act as substrates.
Mammalian kynurenine--oxoglutarate aminotransferase I (E.C. 2.6.1.7 - which is identical to cysteine-conjugate beta lyase EC 4.4.1.13) catalyzes the transamination of L-Cys beta conjugates.
