B6db activities: 2.6.1.8

2.6.1.8
Description 2,5-diaminovalerate aminotransferase.
Alternative names Diamino-acid aminotransferase.
Catalyzed reaction 2,5-diaminopentanoate + 2-oxoglutarate = 5-amino-2-oxopentanoate + L-glutamate.
Cofactor Pyridoxal-phosphate.
Comments -!- 2,5-diaminoglutarate (???) can act instead of diaminopentanoate.
There may be an error in the EC classification. 2,5-diaminopentanoate is in fact ornithine, so this enzyme should coincide with EC 2.6.1.13. In the original reference, though, the substrates of this activity are 5-aminovalerate and 2,4-diaminoglutarate.
Organisms -Eubacteria -Fungi -Metazoa
