B6db activities: 4.1.1.25

4.1.1.25
Description Tyrosine decarboxylase
Catalyzed reaction L-tyrosine = tyramine + CO(2).
Cofactor Pyridoxal-phosphate.
Comments -!- The bacterial enzyme also acts on 3-hydroxytyrosine and, more slowly, on 3-hydroxyphenylalanine.
This entry does not include plant enzymes with tyrosine decarboxylase activity, which have been included into EC 4.1.1.28 (Aromatic amino acid decarboxylase).
Prosite PROSITE; PDOC00329;
PDB 3F9T; 5HSI;
Organisms -Eubacteria -Archea -Plants
