Mechanistically, dialkylglycine decarboxylase is a very peculiar PLP-dependent enzyme, which catalyzes both decarboxylation and transamination in its normal catalytic cycle.
Enzymes with this activity occur sporadically in bacteria and fungi, but their biological role is unclear. |
