Description Threonine racemase
Catalyzed reaction L-threonine = D-threonine.
Cofactor Pyridoxal-phosphate.
Comments -!- Inverts both chiral centres.
The described enzyme from Pseudomonas putida (included here because cited in BRENDA) is in fact a threonine-alpha-epimerase (inversion of stereochemistry on just the alpha carbon, with production of D-allo-Thr from L-Thr).
