Description |
Threonine synthase |
Alternative names |
Threonine synthethase;
ThrS. |
Catalyzed reaction |
O-phospho-L-homoserine + H(2)O = L-threonine + phosphate. |
Cofactor |
Pyridoxal-phosphate. |
|
This enzyme participates in glycine, serine and threonine metabolism.
Threonine synthase is also a main regulatory control point of methionine synthesis in several plants, as it competes with plastidial cystathionine gamma-synthase (EC 2.5.1.48), for their common substrate O-phosphohomoserine. |
