B6db activities: 4.2.3.1

4.2.3.1
Description Threonine synthase
Alternative names Threonine synthethase;
ThrS.
Catalyzed reaction O-phospho-L-homoserine + H(2)O = L-threonine + phosphate.
Cofactor Pyridoxal-phosphate.
This enzyme participates in glycine, serine and threonine metabolism.
Threonine synthase is also a main regulatory control point of methionine synthesis in several plants, as it competes with plastidial cystathionine gamma-synthase (EC 2.5.1.48), for their common substrate O-phosphohomoserine.
Prosite PDOC00149;
PDB 1KL7; 1E5X; 1UIN; 1UIM;
Organisms -Eubacteria -Archea -Plants -Fungi
