Description L-aspartyl-[CtaE acyl-carrier protein] decarboxylase (4.1.1.-)
Alternative names L-aspartyl-[CtaE acyl-carrier protein] carboxy-lyase;
Catalyzed reaction L-aspartyl-[CtaE acyl-carrier protein] = beta alanyl-[CtaE acyl-carrier protein] + CO2
L-aspartyl-beta-alanyl-[CtaE acyl-carrier protein] = beta alanyl-beta alanyl-[CtaE acyl-carrier protein] + CO2
Cofactor Pyridoxal-phosphate.
Comments The enzyme from Ruminiclostridium cellulolyticum is involved in the biosynthesis of closthioamide (CTA), a rare example of a thioamide-containing nonribosomal peptide.
In combination with the ligase CtaD, it can add up to three beta-alanyl moyeties to the CtaE carrier protein, generating the amide backbone of CTA.
Organisms -Eubacteria
