Description |
4-amino-3-oxo-guandidinoheptane synthase (2.3.1.-) |
Alternative names |
SxtA AONS domain |
Catalyzed reaction |
propionyl-[acyl-carrier protein] + L-arginine = 4-amino-3-oxo-guandidinoheptane + acyl-carrier protein + CO(2). |
Cofactor |
Pyridoxal-phosphate |
Comments |
The enzyme is a C-terminal OAS domain of a four-domain polyketide-like synthase, SxtA, and catalyzes a C-C bond formation between the alpha-carbon of L-arginine and thioester carbon of the propionyl-ACP, in the saxitoxin biosynthesis.
The activity is very similar to 8-amino-7-oxononanoate synthase (EC 2.3.1.47) |
