Description Diaminopropionate synthase (ornithine-cyclodeaminase dependent)
Catalyzed reaction L-serine + NH(3) = L-2,3-diaminopropionate
Cofactor Pyridoxal phosphate.
Comments The ammonia for the reaction above derives from the reaction of an associated ornithine cyclodeaminase enzyme.
The enzyme, characterized from the bacterium Streptomyces albulus, is involved in the biosynthesis of the siderophore staphyloferrin B.
