plu3042
Description 3,4-dihydrotyrosine transaminase (2.6.1.-)
Alternative names 3,4-dihydrotyrosine aminotransferase;
Plu3042 (gene name);
Catalyzed reaction 3,4-dihydro-hydroxyphenylpyruvate+glutamine = 3,4-dihydrotyrosine +2-oxoglutaramate
Cofactor Pyridoxal-phosphate
The enzyme from Photorabdus luminescens is required for production of 2,5-Dihydrophenylalanine (H(2)Phe), together with two other enzymes encoded by the same gene cluster (plu3042–3044).
H(2)Phe is a multipotent nonproteinogenic amino acid, acting as an antimetabolite against many organisms.
Organisms -Eubacteria
