B6db activities: redl

redl
Description 2-undecyl-4-pyrrolinone synthase (2.3.1.-)
Alternative names RedL (gene name)
Catalyzed reaction L-glycine + 3-ketomyristoyl-ACP = 2-undecyl-4-pyrrolinone + CO(2) + ACP + H(2)O
Cofactor Pyridoxal phosphate
Comments The enzyme is a multi-domain enzyme involved in the synthesis of undecylprodigiosin. The C terminus domain of this protein is an α-oxoamine synthase (OAS). The domain catalizes a condensation reaction on glycine, followed by decarboxylation and cyclization, to generate 2-undecyl-4-pyrrolinone.
