Description dTDP-4-dehydro-2,3,6-trideoxy-D-glucose--glutamate aminotransferase (2.6.1.-)
Alternative names dTDP-4-amino-2,3,4,6-tetradeoxy-β-D-threo-hexopyranose-oxoglutarate aminotransferase.
Catalyzed reaction dTDP-4-dehydro-2,3,6-trideoxy-D-glucose + L-glutamate = dTDP-4-amino-2,3,4,6-tetradeoxy-D-glucose + 2-oxoglutarate
Cofactor Pyridoxal phosphate.
Comments This enzyme is involved in the biosynthesis of forosamine, a highly deoxygenated sugar found in several natural products, such as the insecticide spinosyns.
The enzyme from Saccharopolyspora spinosa also catalyzes the transamination of dTDP-4-keto-2,6-dideoxy-d-glucose.
