vas1
Description Methionine--3-indole-pyruvate aminotransferase (2.6.1.-)
Catalyzed reaction L- methionine + indole-3-pyruvic acid = 2-oxo-4-methylthiobutyric acid + L-tryptophan
Cofactor Pyridoxal-phosphate.
VAS1 is an Arabidopsis pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent aminotransferase, whose loss-of-function simultaneously increases amounts of the phytohormone auxin and the ethylene precursor 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate.
