4.1.1.109 c
Activity 4.1.1.109
Description Phenylacetaldehyde synthase (family c)
Notes This family of plant enzymes is based on two functionally validated sequences from Medicago trucatula and Cicer arietinum. They show a broad substrate specificity, but seem to act preferentially on phenylalanine, hence their classification as phenylacetaldehyde synthases.
The sequences in this family are very distinct from those in subfamilies a and b; they are closely related instead to serine decarboxylases.
