l-lysine_2-aminotransferase |
Description |
L-lysine 2-aminotransferase (2.6.1.-) (family a) |
Notes |
Very small and homogeneous family, composed solely of sequences from Streptomycetes. The validated enzymes are involved in the biosynthesis of antibiotics such as virginiamycin S.
The family is phylogenetically very distinct from subfamily b and related instead to a number of NDP-hexose aminotransferases, such as 2.6.1.87 and perosamine aminotransferase (2.6.1.102).
