Description	S-carboxymethylcysteine synthase
Catalyzed reaction	3-chloro-L-alanine + thioglycolate = S-carboxymethyl-L-cysteine + chloride.
Cofactor	Pyridoxal-phosphate.
	The only characterized enzyme with this activity is in fact O-acetylserine sulfhydrylase A from E. coli (EC 2.5.1.47). See entry P0ABK5 in GenBank.
