	The enzyme is not to be confused with 3-hydroxykynurenine aminotransferase (QbsB). The immediate keto product of the reaction, 4-(2-amino phenyl)-3-hydroxy 2,4-dioxobutanoate, is converted into 3,4-dihydroxyquinoline-2-carboxylate by a spontaneous reaction.
