Notes Family entirely composed of metazoan enzymes, very closely related to DOPA decarboxylases (EC 4.1.1.28).

These sequences are generally over 600 aa long; however, in mammalian cells, mature histidine decarboxylase is approximately 512 aa long, due to a C-terminal truncation.
